Buckeye Automotive Family Foundation News

Updated: Dec 13, 2023

The Buckeye Automotive Family Foundation is off to a great start in 2023. Read below about the donations, activities, scholarships and community service that have taken place these past six months as we strive to build better families and raise amazing children.

Buckeye Automotive Family Foundation Scholarship Recipients

Buckeye is excited for our first year of educational scholarships for team members! In this first year, we made eight scholarships available, each for $5,000 to be used by team members or their family members for K-12 or post-secondary education costs. Our Driven to Grow Scholars for 2023 are Savanha Sikorski (husband David Black pictured), Alex Shy, Abby Triplett, Shayla Shy, Carmen Shuttleworth, and Miles Poindexter. Congratulations to each of these deserving Buckeye family members. We will be sharing more of their stories in future newsletters.

Buckeye Team Members Volunteer at Community Kitchen

On July 18th, a group of Buckeye team members from all four stores volunteered at the Community Kitchen in Columbus. The Community Kitchen provides 2 meals a day to the homeless and less fortunate in the community. When we approached this organization offering to help, Mj McClesky, the CEO of Community Kitchen, asked for the hallway and dining hall at their Ohio Avenue location at St. John/Holy Rosary parish to be painted to bring a brighter, cleaner environment to those that visit. Buckeye Automotive Family Foundation made a donation to Community Kitchen to cover the cost of the materials and our team including Marie, Jeff, JP, Kiara, Caleb, Madison, Lauren, Walt, Scott and Tammy completed the job in Buckeye teamwork fashion in 4 hours. A fresh coat of paint always makes a big impact, and we left a Love One Another plaque with Mj to display to all that enter Community Kitchen.

First Buckeye Automotive Family Foundation Golf Outing

On June 25th, at Westchester Golf Course in Canal Winchester, 18 teams (72 golfers) enjoyed a round of scramble golf (some of us scrambled more than others:) and lunch to raise funds for the Foundation, and also remember Monty Staats and Tracy Tannehill. Teams consisted of Buckeye team members, business partners and customers. John Triplett, who did a great job of getting teams and hole sponsors for the event, captained the winning team to a score of 59. Thanks also to Jack Young and Bryce Rehrer for their help in coordinating the event, as well as Jennifer Mallory, Tammy Fox and Andrea Triplett for volunteering at registration.

Buckeye Team Builds at Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio

What better way than to build better families than by helping build a home for a first-time homeowner in our community? We started the day by delivering a 2X4 that Buckeye team members from all of the stores signed. This board will be installed in the house to signify our support for this family. Matt, Kenny, Dustin Doughty, Jason Spires, Kent and Nate Delong, Marie and JP Hueston, Aaron Shafer, Sean and Tracie Kenney, Corbin and Kaley Ebert, and Scott and Tammy Thomas worked with Robert from Habitat on the front porch of the new home in downtown Pleasantville. It was a productive day of community service and team building for all!

Buckeye Automotive Family Foundation Donates at Auto Show Charity Gala

On March 17th, the Buckeye Automotive Family was a Kids Patron Sponsor and the Buckeye Automotive Family Foundation made a $5000 donation at the Auto Show Charity Gala benefitting several great organizations that help build better families. The organizations sharing in the $135,000 raised were The Beehive Alliance, Bishop Griffin Resource Center, Children's Heart Foundation, Coats 4 Children and Neighborhood Bridges. In addition to doing good, several Buckeye team members and guests were able to enjoy a fun night of good food, drinks and casino night games.
